Many people do not consider the affect that even a somewhat small difference in fuel economy can make in their financial lives. Let's discuss how even a 5 mile per gallon difference in gas mileage can give you a nice chunk of change that you wouldn't otherwise have had. For instance, if you drive a vehicle that gets 20 miles per gallon rather than 15, and you drive 1,200 miles per month, you will save $80, or about $20 per week (calculated at a gas price of $4 per gallon). It is hard to find anyone who wouldn't like to have an extra $80 per month to use however they wish.
