Did I break my new distributor cap? Can I still use it?
I'm having a lot of fun today trying to do a tuneup on my car. Had to remove the intake manifold, countless vacuum hoses, wires etc. It's a pain on a Chrysler Sebring, trust me. Anyway, When Installing the new distributor cap I heard a snap. I looked at the cap and realized I had bent (or broke) the post coming down from inside the cap. I was able to bend it back straight up just as before and it holds the position firmly. What is this "post" I bent? Can I still use the cap? I'd just go buy another one, but they're over $45 for this car. If I could still use this one it would be great. Thanks!
Try the cap. If the car doesn't misfire you'll be fine. Hopefully there's not any cracks in the plastic.
