im looking for a professional drawing program for computer..i want to litterally draw on the computer..HELP ME

I just finished an art class at school, and in my final class my professor basically told me i should be in school for graphic arts..im in school for automotive design and i want to find a program which i can litterally draw and it shows up on the screen of my computer..Id like a program that i can also upload photos and draw on top of the picture..I dont know if thats standard for those types of programs..I saw a program on TV the other day and a man was drawing on a screen with a pointer and on the side of the screen was a bunch of tip sizes and options and id like a program similar to that (although equiptment like that is probably thousands of dollars and i dont have that money)..please help me find a program that would suit my needs because every search i do brings up photoshop results and thats NOT what i want..thank you for your help..

ps if your wondering yes im willing to spend money i wont get a descent program online for free

To draw, you need a graphics tablet. Wacom is probably the best, but there are alternatives.

The gold standard for drawing on a computer is Corel Painter, but there's a lot of other software works pretty well too, including Photoshop and GIMP (free). The software you need depends entirely on what you want to do.
