1 - Consider a cell of average density 1.2g/cm^3 = 1,200 kg/m^3 and a spherical radius r = 2.0 micrometers. The cell is surrounded by a fluid of density 1.0 g/cm^3 = 1,000 kg/m^3. What is the effective weight of the cell (mg-B)? Use g = 9.8 N/kg.

2 - In an aviation test lab, pilots are subjected to vertical oscillations while sitting on a shaking seat in order to see how well they can recognize objects in times of severe airplane vibrations. The frequency can be varied from 0.02 to 40.0 Hz and the amplitude can be set as high as 2 m (for the low frequencies). What is the maximum acceleration (in m/s^2) of the pilot if the frequency is set to 25 Hz and the amplitude is 1.0 mm?
